Today Bharti Airtel has launched India’s first 4G TD-LTE network in Kolkata, the new Airtel 4G service was launched by Indian telecom minister Kapil Sibal. So after this Airtel is the first mobile network company to launch 4G services in India. The new 4G TD-LT technology will allows users to access high speed internet services and enjoy high definition video streaming with instant photo and video downloads. It will also facilitate quicker uploads, 4G allows download speeds of “upto 100 mbps”.
Right now in 4G-compatible handsets are currently unavailable in the indian market, so Bharti Airtel will be offering LTE compatible wireless devices including multi-mode USB dongles and a Indoor Wireless gateway. The price of the new USB Dongle is Rs 7,999 whis has a USIM card slot, a Micro SD card slot and a USB 2.0 connector. The price of Indoor wireless gateway is priced at Rs 7,750 and will convert the LTE connection to Wi-Fi network which can then be shared across multiple devices.
Airtel’s 4G pricing in Kolkata starts at Rs 999 with a usage of 6GB. Here is the tariff plans which are Airtel offering now:-
To promote the service in Kolkata, Airtel will also be offering various services with data plans like Airtel Movies (powered by BigFlix), Airtel Games (powered by IndiaGames), Airtel live devotion (also known as Airtel iDivine) and Broadband TV. At the launch of 4G service in Kolkata, Airtel has also mentioned that very soon they are going to launch its 4G LTE service in Bangalore.
