Apple iPad App Store finally live
Apple has rolled out the iPad mobile bazaar to a bunch of international markets. Previously, users had to download iPad apps through iTunes and then transfer them by sync, but with the changes, users will be able to browse and download apps from the iPad itself. This will help iPad users who belong to international countries, purchase iPads from the US or by having a friend buy one for them.
The iPad launches internationally on May 28, when both the Wi-Fi and 3G + Wi-Fi versions of the devices will go on sale in nine countries: Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Pricing varies from country to country due to a number of considerations, including local tax laws and import regulations–a fact that has been the source of some controversy since the release date was announced (and then postponed) by Apple.
Download Official Twitter App for Android
Twitter finally released the twitter app for Android phones, with this new app you can view tweets geotagged on maps, see a friend’s tweets directly from the address book and share content from other apps. Users can retweet, reply, favorite or share tweets directly from the timeline. Unfortunately, the app won’t be usable for many Android phone owners, since it only works with version 2.1 of the operating system and above.
You can download the new Twitter Android app from Android Market
Rhapsody for IPhone Adds Offline Listening
Rhapsody released a new version of its app enabling iPhone and iPad users to store and play music from its online music service, even when the devices are offline. Now with Rhapsody 2.0, iPhone owners can create a playlist of any artists, albums, and tracks from the catalog, then save it to download all tracks for offline listening, in addition to streaming the over 9,000,000 songs via 3G and Wi-Fi. Users can rock out to their Rhapsody tracks as long as they maintain their Rhapsody subscription, which the company has now lowered to just $10 per month.
Rhapsody 2.0 is free (with a monthly subscription; a free trial period is available) and requires an iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad running iPhone OS 3.0 or later.
Apple Approves Opera Mini Browser for iPhone
Today Opera announced that Apple has approved the Apple version of Opera Mini and it will be made available in the iPhone Apps Store at some point in the next 24 hours for free. Opera Mini, with more than 50 million users worldwide, enables fast mobile Web browsing by compressing data by up to 90 percent before sending content to the device, resulting in significantly improved page loading. Users of the app will notice an uptake in speed, especially on slower networks such as the 2G Edge network. Surfing the Web with the Opera Mini App on iPhone and iPod touch will also help users save money because of its data compression capabilities. This will hold especially true while the user is incurring roaming charges.
