HTC EVO 4G is now available on Sprint for $199.99 on a two-year contract. Starting today, customers can purchase HTC EVO 4G at Sprint (NYSE: S) retail stores, online (www.sprint.com), through Telesales (1-800-SPRINT1), business direct and at RadioShack, Best Buy and Walmart. Sprint CEO Dan Hesse confirmed the price and release date for the HTC Evo, the very first phone to run on a 4G mobile data network. Sprint today announced that the smartphone will cost $199.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate and the requisite two-year service plan. The swanky smartphone is features a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8650 processor, 512MB of RAM and a 1GB ROM, 4.3″ display (480×800), Android 2.1with HTC Sense UI, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, HDMI-out, mobile HDTV, 8.0mp camera, 1.3mp front-facing camera, digital compass, GPS, and a microSD slot.

Sprint is now following the footsteps of Verizon, by backing out on its promise to carry the Google Nexus One on its network, and replacing the smartphone with a newer HTC EVO 4G. The HTC Evo 4G is a really powerful phone, and it’s going to be the Android phone to beat once it launches. Sprint originally announced plans to offer the Nexus One, but today they announced that they’re ditching the Nexus One and sticking to the award-winning HTC Evo 4G phone instead. Sprint is not the only carrier to do this. Verizon Wireless also ditched the Nexus One for their HTC Droid Incredible release.

Today HTC launched  a new Android-based HTC Legend handset in the Indian market priced at Rs 25,990. The handset also features HTC Sense which includes a widget called Friend Stream that aggregates user’s social networking accounts. The HTC Sense feature also supports a newsreader application and widget as well as a new seven-screen ‘Leap’ thumbnail view for quick and easy access to specific screens.

The Android based handset has been designed from a single block of aluminum to transform into a sleek handset. It comes with a 3.2-inch OLED HVGA display. The trackball has now been fitted with an optical joystick alongside a narrow button to enhance functionality without compromising on the look and design of the phone. Today’s Googles launch the Nexus One, the newest Android-powered phone running the latest Android 2.1 software. The phone has a trackball and a battery of technologies, including a compass and light sensor. It is 11.5 millimeters thin, about the thickness of a No. 2 pencil. The 5-megapixel still and video camera has a flash. The phone was designed in close partnership with HTC. Erick Tseng, senior product manager at Google, described the hardware specs and software features during the press event.

Taiwan-based HTC has launched a Windows-based handset — HD2 in the Indian market. Featuring a large 4.3-inch display, the phone promises 480 X 800 WVGA resolution. This ultra-thin handset sports a high-resolution 4.3-inch ‘capacitive touch’ display that enables viewing sharper, brighter and clearer images. The HD2 is the first Windows Mobile powered handset to sport the Sense UI that was first seen ion the Android based HTC Hero. The HD2 is also different as this one sports a capacitive touchscreen, instead of the usually seen resistive one on WM powered handsets.

The HTC HD2 will be made available through HTC resellers at a price of Rs. 39,990 in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, and at Rs. 36,990 in the other parts of the nation.

Finally, Google will be releasing their very own unlocked smartphone — made by HTC, called the Nexus One. It will reportedly be available in 2010 and run Android 2.1.

Microsoft is hard at work on the next version of its mobile operating system, Windows Mobile 7, this is something that most of you should already know. However, while the platform is expected to come to the market with a great deal of novelties, being capable of putting the software giant back into the game, it seems that we’ll have to wait a little more before we can actually see it pre-loaded on handsets.

The next iteration of Microsoft’s mobile client is something that not only enthusiasts are eagerly waiting for. The company promised that it would change dramatically the user experience with the upcoming Windows Mobile 7, and some of you might have already learned about the novelties it should come around with. However, it seems that the software giant is taking too much time with the platform, and that might hurt its position on the market.

HTC has revealed its first set of covers for the HTC Tattoo, the company’s new entry-level Android phone now available in the UK from Vodafone. Well, HTC just launched their TattooMyHTC website, offering pre-designed covers for €11.99. You can also “design your own” custom covers for for €14.99. At the moment, TattooMyHTC is available only for the HTC Tattoo, but more devices might be added later (assuming that HTC intros new handsets with changeable covers).

You can also create your own tatto usnder “design your own” tab, which helps users create the exact design they want. Images, symbols, background color and text can all be added, shifted around the case and layered to make the design completely bespoke.

HTC officially announced their new smartphone HD2 “Leo” today. The HD2 will be available in Europe “later this month”, and will then move out to carriers in other regions. It will be one of the first devices on the market with Microsoft’s Windows Mobile 6.5 Pro, but have the new version of HTC’s custom user interface layered on top. This used to be called TouchFLO, but has just been renamed HTC Sense to reflect a greater focus on consumers. The HD2 will also be powered by Qualcomm’s new 1GHz Snapdragon mobile processor and boasts a 4.3-inch WVGA (480×800) capacitive touch screen. Other highlights include Bluetooth 2.1, a 5-megapixel camera, and a 3.5 millimeter headphone jack.

Battery life is listed as up to 380 minutes of talktime, and up to 490 minutes of standby time. It will be possible to increase battery life by more than double the length with the addition of an extended battery pack, which will go on sale after the HD2 launches. It includes a handy stand for the mobile, so users can place it on a table and watch films on the hi-res screen.

On sale in late October, the HTC HD2 won’t be exclusive to any network in the UK, with T-Mobile and O2 already being confirmed.
