So, for all those who managed to get the Galaxy S4, now they can root there device easily with this CF-Auto-Root tool. This method will work on GT-I9505 only, this is the Qualcomm-based Galaxy S4 LTE and will NOT work with GT-I9500 (Exynos 5). This method has been only tested on XXUAMD2 Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean firmware, so don’t try it on any other firmware.

How to Root Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 On Android 4.2.2

Step 1. Download the latest Samsung USB drivers on your Windows PC to get started.

Step 2. Now Download the Root package for Galaxy s4 here and after that Download ODIN multi flasher tool.

Step 3. Now enable USB debugging mode on your Galaxy 4, here is the guide to enable USB debugging mode. After this connect your S4 with the PC and run the ODIN.exe on your desktop. When your device will be connected to your computer, one ID:COM boxes will turn yellow after some time.

Step 4. Now switch OFF your phone. Now go to Download Mode. To do this hold Volume Down Rocker Key + Menu Button and then Power ON the device. Once the device is booted and you see the Download Mode Green Robot, you can release the button combos.

Step 5. Now in ODIN hit the ‘PDA’ button to select the file with the ‘.tar.md5’ extension within the package you just unzipped on Step 2.

Step 6. After all these, hit the start button from the ODIN to start the root process. the process will take some time.

Once the package is flashed, the device will be rebooted automatically. It may take longer time than expected for booting the device. Once you see the home screen, unplug your Galaxy S4 phone from the computer. Now your Galaxy S4 is rooted and you are ready to install the rooted application on your de3vice.
