Samsung is doing everything they can to compete in the mobile market, and they are going about it the right way, An account on Twitter called @samsungukmobile is contacting people who’ve tweeted about their difficulties with the iPhone 4, asking them to submit their contact details to receive a free handset.

The Samsung Galaxy S has a 4″ Super AMOLED screen, a 1GHz Samsung Hummingbird CPU, and Android 2.1 (with a Froyo update scheduled). It’s considering, if not an iPhone 4 killer, a solid iPhone 4 competitor.

-Apple on Friday held an invite-only press conference to discuss its latest mobile device, the iPhone 4, and more specifically, the reported reception issues users were having. Jobs said Apple wasn’t perfect, that it cared about its customers, it has collected data about the iPhone 4 reception problems, and is taking appropriate action by offering free rubber bumpers to users who care about the reception problem.

Steve Jobs announced that keeping customers happy is the company’s priority here, so iPhone 4 users will be able to get a free case for their phones which should mitigate any remaining reception problem, acting as a buffer between your hand and the antenna. If you already bought a case, you’ll be entitled to a refund, and if that’s not good enough for you, you can return the phone in undamaged condition for up to 30 days after purchase.

Zynga has released “FarmVille” App for iPhone. FarmVille has for very long been the most anticipated app and is finally on the app store. The Zynga Farmville iPhone app is set to be released at midnight and can be downloaded for free. For those interested check the store. The App is currently live in the iTunes New Zealand Store and can be downloaded with a dummy account. It’s expected to hit England in the early morning hours of June 24th.

Finally the new iPhone iOS 4.01 available and the dev team also released the  new PwnageTool 4.01 to jailbreak iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G. Note: Some important info you have to must read before the jailbreaking process of iPhone iOS 4.0.

iPhone 3GS

Summary: Currently, PwnageTool only works on previously jailbroken 3GS devices with the old bootrom.

* If you have a Jailbroken iPhone 3GS with the OLD BOOTROM and you DID NOT use Spirit to jailbreak then you can create the ipsw with PwnageTool 4.0 and restore with your jailbroken recovery mode.
* If you have an iPhone 3GS with the NEW BOOTROM this is NOT supported by PwnageTool 4.0

iPhone 3G

* If you have a Jailbroken iPhone 3G at 3.1.2 (but not jailbroken with Spirit) then you should create the ipsw with PwnageTool 4.0 and restore from recovery mode or DFU mode.
* If you have an out of the box iPhone 3G you should restore using a PwnageTool 4.0 ipsw using DFU mode.
* If you have a Jailbroken 3.1.3 iPhone 3G it is very possible that this can fail from recovery mode, if this failure happens you will need to restore using DFU mode.
* As an alternative to PwnageTool, you can use redsn0w on iPhone 3G (on both Windows and Mac) as mentioned in our last post.

IMPORTANT! Whenever you need to enter DFU mode, you will need to do so using PwnageTool.

iPod touch 2G

* If you have an iPod touch 2G (non-MC model) that is jailbroken (but not with Spirit) then you can restore using recovery mode.
* As an alternative to PwnageTool, you can use redsn0w on non-MC iPod Touch 2G (on both Windows and Mac) as mentioned in our last post.

3. Download PwnageTool 4.01 here

4. Start PwnageTool 4.01 and select your device.

5. Now PwnageTool 4.01 will now automatically detect the correct firmware for your device, if not than browse & Select iPhone 3GSor 3G iOS 4 firmware file that you downloaded.

6. Click No when PwnageTool asks you “Do you have an iPhone contract that would activate normally through iTunes?”

7. Click the Build button to select it then click the Blue arrow button to begin.

8. You will be asked to save your custom .ipsw file. Save it to your Desktop.

9. Now Connect your iPhone to your Mac/PC and enter into DFU mode.

10. Now In iTunes, hold the Alt/Option key and click Restore. And Select Custom Firmware iOS 4.0 ipsw file created using Pwnagetool 4.0 ( That you created in Step 8 )

11. iTunes will now restore the firmware on your iPhone. This can also take up to 10 minutes. Once done you will be rebooted into jailbroken iPhone OS 4.0!

Cheer up guys now you can get Unlocked iPhone 4 in Canada & UK. The Apple Store Canada is touting “commitment free” iPhones that are unlocked and ready to go on the carrier of your choice. In the UK, an unlocked 16GB iPhone 4 is priced at £499 while the going rate for the 32GB variant is £599. In Canada, it’s not yet available for pre-order and is still listed as coming soon. The white iPhone 4, unfortunately, isn’t available for pre-order online.

The next-gen iPhone is now official, The announcement of iPhone OS 4.0, Apple’s biggest improvement to the iPhone OS since, well, 3.0. This new version includes multi-tasking (although backgrounding would be the proper term), app folders, a new version of Mail, and a carrier unlock. Steve Job also showed off details of the company’s newest mobile operating system, now dubbed iOS 4, which will run on the iPhone 4 as well as (in the future) the iPad.

New iOS 4 features include support for multitasking, a unified e-mail inbox, and the ability to put apps from the home screen into folders. All of these features had been previously demonstrated at an iPhone OS event in March.

Some new iOS Features-

* iPhone 4 includes a front-facing camera and support for videoconferencing with other iPhone 4 users, via a feature called FaceTime.
* The iPhone 4 screen includes a high-resolution technology that Apple is calling “retina display,” with 328 pixels per inch. Overall, the 3.5-inch display has 960 x 640 pixels, more than the Motorola Droid (854 x 480) and HTC Incredible (800 x 480), close competitors that run Google’s Android OS. “The display is your window into the internet, your apps, your media, your software,” said Jobs.
* The iPhone 4 now uses the A4 processor, Apple’s custom-designed CPU that powers the iPad.
* Quad-band HSDPA/HSUPA wireless data support that will give the phone 7.2 Mbps download speeds and 5.8 Mbps upload. “That’s theoretical because carriers don’t support that yet,” said Jobs — one of several jabs aimed at carriers during the keynote, which suffered from a wireless outage at one point.
* A 5-megapixel camera with 5x digital zoom and the ability to record HD video at 720p and 30 frames per second. The camera also includes an LED flash, a common feature in other phones that was missing from previous versions of the iPhone. The iPhone 4 also includes a version of iMovie, Apple’s video-editing software, to let people edit and post video clips.

OS 4.0 will be going out to phones this summer, but a developer preview is currently available. The iPad will get it in the fall.

iPhone 4 was announced today during Steve Jobs’ keynote at WWDC. Apple’s iPhone 4 is the biggest upgrade yet for the handset. Highlight features include a front-facing camera, a 960-by-640 “retina display” that shows image and text more crisply, the same A4 processor that powers the iPad, and a 5-megapixel still camera that also shoots high-definition video. Software-wise the applications will automatically get high resolution text, as part of iOS 4 (which is the company;s new name for the operating system). Software developers will also be able to use a new in-built gyroscope that has a six-axis motion sensor and will, presumably, be used just for games.

Pricing

The phone will be available in white or black, retailing at $199 for the 16GB model and $299 for 32GB.

Existing iPhone customers eligible for an upgrade between today and the end of this year have been made immediately eligible for AT&T’s best pricing for iPhone 4 with a new two-year term commitment. Preordering

Consumers may preorder iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS 8GB at AT&T retail stores or online at www.att.com/iphone beginning June 15. Business customers can preorder through their AT&T sales representative or by visiting AT&T’s Premier site. For greater convenience and faster delivery, preorders can be shipped directly to a customer’s home or business for delivery as early as June 24. Customers can also have a preorder shipped to their local AT&T store for pick up on or after Friday, June 25.

AT&T stores will operate on a first-come, first-served basis, and will accommodate as many customers as possible.

Yesterday Apple.pro has posted pictures of a iPhone 4G, but this time in white. This time it appears to be a bunch of white parts, including home buttons and front panels for the new iPhone 4G / HD. Like Asian iPhone 4G leaks before, this one seems to come directly from one of the factories the iPhone is manufactured in. It looks like both devices are disassembled as there are some cables sticking out from the top.

The latest beta for iPhone OS 4 has been release to the developing masses over on the Apple developer site, this new beta update provides firmware for each of the supported devices (namely the iPhone 3GS, the iPhone 3G, and the 2nd and 3rd generation iPod touch).

Apple is expected to publicly release iPhone OS 4 to iPhone and iPod touch users “this summer”, although early models of those devices will not be compatible with the new OS and even some newer models will not be able to take advantage of all of the features. iPhone OS 4 will come to the iPad “in the fall”.
